Gainesville: Finals postponed

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Persistent rain showers forced NHRA officials to postpone Sunday's eliminations for the 32nd annual Mac Tools NHRA Gatornationals until April 20-21. Eliminations for pro, sportsman and pro modified exhibition entries qualified for the $2 million NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series event have been rescheduled for April 21, beginning at 11 a.m. Qualified teams will be granted a test and tune session on April 20, with pro sessions at noon and 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 for the test and tune. Tickets purchased for Sunday's postponed eliminations will be honored on April 21 only. Elimination pairings for each pro category have been set. Top qualifiers include Gary Scelzi (Top Fuel); John Force (Funny Car); Mark Pawuk (Pro Stock); Antron Brown (Pro Stock Motorcycle) and Randy Daniels (Pro Stock Truck). The next NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series event is the 14th annual O'Reilly Nationals presented by Pennzoil, March 22-25 at Houston Raceway Park, Baytown, Texas. -NHRA
