Force Runner-Up At Mac Gatornationals
Highlights: John Force didn't win the Funny Car title at Sunday's 35th annual Mac Tools Gatornatiionals, but he did make the biggest move in the NHRA POWERade point standings.
Force, the 12-time series champion, moved from eighth to second in season points despite a narrow final round loss to Del Worsham.
Although he failed to win his eighth Gatornationals title, Force reversed a negative trend at Gainesville Raceway where he had lost in the first round each of the last two years.
The event was not as productive for the other Team Castrol members as both Eric Medlen and Gary Densham exited in the very first round. Medlen was beaten for the second time in three races by Jerry Toliver and Densham was upset by Worsham.
In winning for the second straight event, Worsham opened up a 110-point lead over Force and a 113-point advantage over Densham. Medlen fell to ninth in points, 151 points off the lead.
NEXT EVENTS: Summitracing.com Nationals, Las Vegas, Nevada, April 2-4; O'Reilly Spring Nationals, Houston, Texas, April 16-18; O'Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals, Bristol, Tenn., April 30-May 2.
