TEAM HAMMONDS STRUGGLES IN QULAFYING; OUT FOR ELIMINATION SUNDAY
(GAINESVILLE, Fla., Mar. 14, 2009) - -Team Hammonds struggled today in qualifying rounds, missing out on competing on elimination Sunday.
In qualifying round three, Team Hammonds registered an e.t. of 11.852 at 71.88 mph as a result of having trouble with the No. 20 Race for Achievement Chevy Cobalt and aborting the run against Warren Johnson (6.683 sec/208.23 mph). Sitting in 23rd place, the team had one last chance to make the qualifying field in round four. Running an elapsed time of 6.677 seconds in 207.05 mph against Dave Northrop (6.672 seconds /206.23 mph), Team Hammonds would improve, but not enough to place in the qualifying field.
With a 2-1 qualifying record, Team Hammonds is off to a better start than last season. It was an unfortunate end to the weekend, but they are confident they Houston in two weeks will bring about a better outcome. Testing and trouble shooting will be their focus to stay on course with their strategy, consistently qualifying.
