HOUSTON, Texas (March 24) - Ruben Celedon, driver of the Sikeston Drag Strip / Kent Services Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck, failed to qualify here today at the 14th Annual O'Reilly Nationals in Houston, Texas.
Although many drivers and teams would be discouraged by not being able to qualify. Celedon however feels like at this race his team made progress in their racing program.
"We didn't qualify here," said Celedon, of Edinburg, Texas, "but we are not discouraged. We would have liked to have done better here, but we had problems from the start.
"In the first two sessions I felt like we were making progress. Whittling away at it.
"In the morning session today we found that we hurt the motor. That piece was down on power and we knew it did not have enough to get us in. Between sessions we did a motor swap.
"We were hoping that we might be able to get some luck and by some miracle get in the show today. I guess it just wasn't meant to be this weekend.
"We will go home now and try and get ready for Las Vegas. We will work on the truck and send our motor back to be fixed. We will go home and do the work because we want to do better in Las Vegas."
The next race on the Nationals Hot Rod Association's regular tour will be the 2nd Annual SummitRacing.Com Nationals April 5-8 in Las Vegas, Nev.
