Mechanical woes ends Anderson's day early
JOLIET, Ill. (June 10, 2007) -- In a rare first round loss, Greg Anderson, driver of the KB Racing LLC Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac, fell victim to mechanical woes at the 10th annual NHRA Torco Racing Fuels Route 66 Nationals and former NBA basketball veteran Tom Hammonds advanced to the next round. It is the first time that Anderson has lost in the opening round this season.
"There's not much to say about this one," said Anderson. "What happen? We broke another engine. We won't know how it happened until we get back to the shop. We'll look at the engine, find the weak link, and fix it. It will be long hours getting ready for Englishtown but we'll be ready."
Route 66 Raceway continues to be one of two track that Anderson, who has 48 career wins, has not won at. The other is Richmond.
The three-time NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champion continues to lead the NHRA POWERade point standings in the first segment of the Countdown to the Championship.
