Hillary Will nipped by Fuller in second round
JOLIET, Ill. (June 10, 2007) -- Hillary Will, the driver of the KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel Dragster, advanced to the second round but the lights weren't in her favor as she lost a close race to Rod Fuller in today's eliminations at the 10th annual NHRA Torco Racing Fuels.
In the opening, Will got by Melanie Troxel and earned lane choice in the process. Will recorded an elapsed time of 4.573 seconds to 4.629 seconds for Troxel. This moved Will to the second round against "Hot Rod" Fuller, who defeated Scott Palmer in the opening stanza with a time of 4.574 seconds.
In the quarterfinals, Fuller was away first when the starting lights at Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill., turned green. At the finish line Will just ran out of track as Fuller nipped her by seven thousandths of a second. Will's E.T was 4.557 seconds at 327.35 mph to 4.582 seconds for Fuller.
The end results were that Will picked up some much needed points in the Countdown to the Championship.
After the event, Will indicated that she was proud of her team. She cannot wait to get back on the track at Englishtown.
