LAS VEGAS (April 9, 2006) - For the second time this season Morgan Lucas turned back Hillary Will. Lucas nipped Will at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway finish line during first round of eliminations at the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals.
The scoreboard showed a 4.602-second elapsed time for the KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports- managed Top Fuel dragster of Will. Lucas stopped the finish line clocks in 4.580 seconds. The margin of victory was just under four hundredths of a second.
"We tried to run a mid-50 (4.55 seconds), but came up short," said crew chief Jim Oberhofer. "The car slowed down early and dropped a cylinder on the other end, something that has been plaguing us all weekend."
"The run felt all right," said Will, "but I saw Morgan (Lucas) cross first. We just got outrun today. We still can learn something from this run. Every run give us more data and information."
