Will moves into top ten in NHRA POWERade points
MADISON, Ill. (June 25, 2006) -- The color of a Christmas Tree (starting lights) bulb, ended the day for Hillary Will, when she red lighted against Melanie Troxel in the opening round of the NHRA O'Reilly Midwest Nationals.
While the 26-year-old driver of the KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports- managed Top Fuel dragster left too early, Troxel was slightly tardy leaving the starting line but it didn't matter as Troxel was awarded the victory on the foul start by Will.
The bright spot of the day for Will was that she moved into the top ten in the NHRA POWERade point standings. Unofficially, Will now has 498 points and leads Doug Herbert by one point and Bob Vandergriff, Jr. by four points in a tight battle for the No. 10 spot in the standings.
It's now time for the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series mid season break. The next event will be the third weekend in July when Bandimere Speedway in Denver hosts the long running 27th annual NHRA Mopar Mile-High Nationals, July 14-16
The elimination show for the 10th annual NHRA O'Reilly Midwest Nationals on ESPN2 repeats early Tuesday morning (June 27) from 2:30-4:30 a.m. Television time is Eastern Time (ET) and subject to change at anytime. Check local listings.
