HERBERT CLAIMS SPOT IN FASTEST HALF OF FIELD
Norwalk, Ohio (June 30, 2007) Qualifying at the NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, came to a close on Saturday afternoon with Doug Herbert, driver of the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster, sitting in the No. 7 qualifying position.
Herbert's weekend took off on Friday afternoon with the Snap-on Tools dragster passing through the timing lights with a strong 4.57 second pass at 326 mph. This time held strong and ultimately placed Herbert in the No. 7 position.
On Saturday, with the sun beating down on the racing surface, making it down the track proved difficult for several teams. Herbert and the Snap-on Tools dragster, however, not only made it down the track, but held the quickest pass of the session, a 4.58 second run at 317 mph.
"We're on a roll," said Herbert. "We plan on beating Bazemore in the first round, and if we do, that will put us in the top ten. Then we are going to go on and win the race. We've been to winner's circle here before, and we will be there again tomorrow."
Herbert will face Whit Bazemore in the opening round of eliminations.
