Despite A DNQ, Cruz Pedregon And The Advance Auto Parts Race Remain Optimistic And Look Forward To Gainesville

PHOENIX, Ariz. (February 26, 2007) -- Cruz Pedregon and his Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car team missed qualifying for the final eliminations this past weekend at the NHRA Nationals, held at Firebird Int'l Raceway in Phoenix, Ariz.

The team's best effort came during Friday's second qualifying session with a run of 5.110 seconds at 218.87 mph. However, a series of spectacular engine explosions prevented the Advance Auto Parts race team from making the final field for Sunday.

"We never really got a handle on the engine set-up this weekend," stated Pedregon. "It is frustrating as I know we have so much potential, but I have all the faith in the world in Wayne (Dupuy, crew chief) and confident this Advance Auto Parts team will be ready for Gainesville. Although I was not competing, Pedregon Racing showed very well with Tony's (Pedregon, brother) big win."

In 2006, Cruz Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts Race Team once again finished in the top 10 in the NHRA point standings, with one win (Las Vegas).
