Friday Qualifying Cancelled in Phoenix
Intermittent showers and cool temperatures at Firebird Raceway forced NHRA officials to cancel Friday's qualifying sessions of the Checker Schuck's Kragen Nationals in Phoenix, AZ. With his opportunities to make Sunday's final eliminations field cut in half, GM Performance Parts Pontiac racer Warren Johnson acknowledged a different mindset would be required for Saturday's two attempts.
"All things considered, I think everyone will be of a similar mindset tomorrow, adjusting as best as we can for the changes in the track and atmospheric conditions. Naturally, our primary goal will be to secure a spot in Sunday's field. In addition, with the Full Throttle program out there that can be tapped into, we'll be looking to lay down as good a run as you dare get by with. I guess you can say that our GM Performance Parts Pontiac crew is planning to be aggressively cautious."
