Champion, Meyer Ready to Defend Title
Great Bend, Kan. The Randy Meyer Racing Top Alcohol Dragster team is set to compete this weekend at the NHRA Division 5 season opener at SCRA Drag Strip. Meyer, who was the champion in Division 5 the last three years is looking for great things with his excellent performance shown earlier in 2007.
Qualifying begins on Friday at 5 pm, resumes Saturday at 2 and 5 pm. Eliminations are scheduled for Sunday at noon.
On April 13-15, RMR was at the Texas Motorplex for the Division 4 race in Ennis, Texas. Meyer blasted down the quarter-mile during his second qualifier to a unofficial track record of 5.193 seconds at 272.28 mph and number one qualifying position.
In Sunday's eliminations Meyer was paired with Spencer Massey in the first round. Meyer was off the line first but a mechanical problem held him to a 5.483. Massey ran his best run of the weekend, a 5.416 in a huge upset win over the ailing car of Meyer.
Randy Meyer is currently in eighth place in NHRA national points.
