FRAM Team Looks to Improve Saturday
READING, Pa., August 17, 2007 -- Tire shake in Friday night's qualifying under the lights at Maple Grove Raceway forced Cory McClenathan to abort the run and he settled for 15th in the opening day of the Toyo Tires Nationals.
McClenathan's best effort came on the first run, a coasting 7.255 seconds at 96.44 mph, under weird circumstances.
"Cory put a new, stronger throttle spring on the car and it was stronger than he thought," said crew chief Keith Adams. "The spring was so strong that it pushed his foot back up and he didn't realize it. It kept lifting his foot off the throttle. That's something you don't see often, but it does happen."
"There's definitely a lot of room for improvement," McClenathan said with a smile. "We were just too aggressive on our last run and that's what led to the shake."
He has two more qualifying runs Saturday to move up higher in the starting line-up.
