Will No. 15 in Seattle as rain takes toll on qualifying
KENT, Wash. (July 21, 2007) -- Yesterday fell in the span that is normally one of the driest in Seattle, but this weekend has been anything but dry. On Friday, rain cancelled all racing activity and fans had to wait until Saturday to see the first cars go down the track at this, the 20th running of the NHRA Schuck's Auto Supply Nationals.
With little rubber on the track due to yesterday's rain, Hillary Will's KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel dragster smoked the tires in the first session on Saturday, recording a pass of 7.260 seconds.
Unfortunately, she didn't get to run again as the rains returned and cancelled the second pro qualifying session of Saturday.
Will finished qualifying in the No. 15 position and will run Larry Dixon in the opening round of eliminations tomorrow.
"I'm thankful to be in the show," said Will. "In that one session today, I got some practice pedaling the car. That's a good thing because I think it's going to be tough out there when we do race. Who knows what it's going to be like. As drivers, we're going to have to be ready for anything. I know that my crew chief will be ready for anything. Hopefully we can do well and get the race over with and move on to Sonoma."
