Snap-on Team Doesn't Achieve Desired Results
MADISON, Ill. (May 4, 2008) Doug Herbert and the SnaponFranchise.com Top Fuel team saw elimination day come to an early end at the NHRA Midwest Nationals.
After qualifying in the No. 12 position, Herbert faced Doug Kalitta in the opening round of eliminations. Herbert, known for his excellent reaction times, was first off the line (.054 of a second to Kalitta's .082), but the SnaponFranchise.com dragster overpowered the track and lost traction around 300 feet, putting Kalitta into the second round.
"There isn't really much to say," said Herbert. "We had one good run all weekend, and unfortunately it didn't happen during eliminations. We tried to be a little too aggressive for the first round and it came back to bite us.
"We don't like loosing early, and we are going to take steps to make sure it doesn't happen again. We have a good car and a good team, just had a bad weekend.
"We will head back to the shop, refocus, regroup and come out ready to race in Bristol where we have won six times."
