10/13/2002 - Buttonwillow, CA -- Tim Barber of San Francisco, California secured the pole position for Round 3 of the 2002 Fran-Am 1600 West Coast Championship series at Buttonwillow Raceway.
Barber's time of 1:46.45 in his Conversion Techniques Motorsports entry narrowly beat out Porter Racing's Keith Nunes for the pole. Nunes, from Modesto, California, will start second after posting a qualifying time of 1:46.68. Barber's Conversion Techniques Motorsports teammate Darryl O'Young of Vancouver, British Columbia, rounds out the top three with a time of 1:46.88.

1. Tim Barber, San Francisco, CA, Conversion Techniques Motorsports, 1:46.45
2. Keith Nunes, Modesto, CA, Porter Racing, 1:46.68
3. Darryl O'Young, Vancouver, BC, Conversion Techniques Motorsports, 1:46.88
4. John Knudsen, Ontario, CA, Conversion Techniques Motorsports, 1:47.66
5. Michael McDowell, Glendale, AZ, Worldspeed Motorsports, 1:47.84
6. Peter Nosler, Menlo Park, CA, Porter Racing, 1:49.92
7. Frank McCormick, San Francisco, CA, Worldspeed Motorsports, 1:49.95
8. George Latus, Portland, OR, Latus Motorsports, 1:50.69
The race is scheduled for 2:30pm on Sunday, October 13.
