FIRST AND SECOND IN POINTS ARE SECOND AND FIRST ON THE GRID
MONTEREY, Calif. (Oct. 25, from Rick Roso) - Rino Mastronardi held on to the provisional pole he had earned in first qualifying and thus gained one point on championship leader Derek Hill in the season finale of the Barber Dodge Pro Series race at Laguna Seca Raceway. Hill leads 150 to 147 and, if Mastronardi does not win the race, must finish no further back from the Italian than two positions to clinch the championship and the $150,000 in title bonuses. If either driver wins the race, he clinches the championship regardless of what the other does.
