(July 4) - SCCA Pro Racing Barber Dodge Pro Series, Friday practice times; all cars on new Goodyear Eagle slicks. Conditions: sunny, clear, temperature in the 70s. Position, driver, hometown or country, lap time around 1552-mile, 13-turn temporary course. All cars identical Mondiale Barber Dodge V6 open-wheel, single-seat race cars. First qualifying session is today at 4:45 p.m. Central; final qualifying is Saturday at 1:15 p.m.

Notes: The very first driver to fit hand controls and race in a professional open-wheel formula car is William Peetz of Brazil, driving the #6 Cafe Cancun Barber Dodge this weekend; the track had, no surprise, no grip; Martin Stenshornes time is within 7/10s of the Trans-Am lap record for this circuit; Derek Hill brushed the outside wall in Turn 5 and broke the left rear suspension; Rocky Moran, Jr., had gearbox problems; Jarrett Boon and Mark-Paul Gosselaar also found the wall.
