Albacete -- 1 May 2004 -- Michael Herck (Junior Racing Team) and Marco Antonio Barba (Escuela Lois Circuit) will start from P1 respectively in the two the races of the Spanish Formula Junior Championship that Hill take place tomorrow in Albacete (9h30 -- 12h30).
The first qualifying session was the quickest one, with Michael Herck achieving his first pole in the Championship setting an impressive lap in 1.33.140, leaving Marco Barba in second position. Arturo Llobell, alter dominating yesterday's free sessions, will share the second row of the grid with the HST Racing driver Marcos Martinez.
Marco Barba was on pole for the second qualifying session, in an extremely damaged track after the trucks finished their qualifying session. Barba set his best lap time in 1.34.752 (1/5 seconds slower than Herck's pole). Team mate Llobell will start from P2, followed by the HST Racing driver Marcos Martinez.
The 16 current entered drivers in this Series did not improve the morning registers. Nevertheless, the session was quite tight as the 10 top drivers were packed in one second.
The RACC driver Dani Clos was the 4th quickest driver and best debutant of this second heat, while the Repsol driver Jose Miguel Gutierrez was the best rookie in the first heat.
Both races will be disputed at 13 laps. Barba will race to defend his provisional leadership.
