NEW BUSINESS UNIT FORMED
TAMPA, Fla. (September 25, 1997) -- International Motor Sports Group, Inc. (IMSG) has established an autonomous business unit consisting of the sanctioning body operating as Professional SportsCar Racing (SportsCar), as well as Sebring International Raceway (Florida) and Mosport (Ontario, Canada). Jack Long, president of IMSG and SportsCar, will be responsible for all operations of this business unit.
"I am confident we will continue to grow with Jack Long at the reigns," said Andrew Evans, Chairman of IMSG. Evans pointed to Long's extensive and successful background in motorsports management, including the new Indy Racing League, PPG Indy Car World Series and Formula One. Long has developed and managed events including the Molson Indy-Toronto, and the Long Beach, Caesar's Palace, Dallas and Detroit Grands Prix, as well as promoting the Canadian Grand Prix (Montreal) in 1988 and the U.S. Grand Prix (Phoenix) in 1989.
"The rapid growth of IMSG over the past year has dictated this adjustment," said Long. "I am confident the structure of our management team will provide us with the opportunity to better serve our customers - our competitors, promoters, sponsors and racing fans throughout North America.
"I am dedicated to ensuring that Sebring and Mosport prosper, while at the same time helping to reach our goal of taking SportsCar to the next level," concluded Long.
