Cleveland, Ohio - Tommy Archer drove the number 36 Cinjo Racing/Motorcity True Performance Viper to a fifth place qualifying position for round five of the Trans Am race for the BF Goodrich Cup to be run on Saturday at 4:45 p.m. EDT.
Archer set his fast lap on his final lap in the qualifying session posting a time of 1:14.420 with a speed of 101 mph. The Duluth, Minnesota based driver improved on his morning practice time by more than two seconds.
The Cinjo Racing crew is working hard to find the set-up that the Viper likes around this temporary airport circuit. With an engine miss and the changing setup demands the team is working diligently to improve the car for tomorrow's race.
The Cleveland race will be televised on CBS on July 1 at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
Tommy Archer: The engine had a miss at lower RPM's. I had to drive the car really hard to get a good starting position for the race. On these abbreviated weekends it is tough to find the ideal set-up. We have a few ideas that we are going to try during tomorrow's 45-minute practice."
Joe Tranchida, owner, Cinjo Racing: "Tommy did an excellent job putting the car in the Fast Five. It represents a valuable point toward the championship. We are chasing the car a little and the crew is doing a great job. We can't afford to use tomorrow's practice as a warm-up."
