SCCA PRO RACING LTD. has announced its Pro Spec Racer schedule, including dates with Grand Am, Trans Am, Speedvision World Challenge, American Speed Association, NASCAR Busch Grand National and for the first time, the NASCAR WINSTON CUP SERIES!
New venues for the 2001 campaign include Chicago Motor Speedway, Virginia International Raceway, Daytona International Speedway and a NASCAR WINSTON CUP pairing at Sears Point Raceway.
The series will also return to Watkins Glen International for July 14 - 15, after an absence from the 2000 schedule.
Additionally, two dates are being finalized to bring the total number of race weekends to 11.
Hunt Racing is based out of Buffalo, New York. Owned by Thomas Hunt, Hunt Racing has competed in the Pro Spec Racer series for seven years, entering its eigth season. The 1999 and 2000 years showed Hunts best, with the #82 TECH CLEARS & PRIMERS HYPER-V car driven by Keith Scharf of St. Louis, MO finishing 5TH Over-All both seasons, and the #0 Pearl Street Grill & Brewery car driven by Chris Funk of Kansas City, MO finishing 6TH Over-All in 1999 and 4TH Over-All in 2000. Last year also saw a new addition to the team, Warren Stilwell of Ohio. Stilwell is a four time and defending Pro Champion, and has won the National Club Championship the past 7 years in the Valvoline Run-Offs held at Mid Ohio! Stilwell drives the #28 Maaco car.
