80 drivers eligible for Kele World Challenge

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (FEB. 16, 2002) - A record eighty (80) international athletes (sprint car drivers) from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States are now eligible to compete in this year's $10,000-to-win Kele World Challenge at the Knoxville Nationals on Friday, August 9. The final two qualifiers for the ninth annual Olympic-style challenge were held on January 26-27 at the Premier Speedway in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia, and on February 2, at the Western Springs Speedway in Auckland, North Island, New Zealand. Warrnambool's The Standard-sponsored Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic was won by Donny Schatz of North Dakota, while P.J. Chesson of New Jersey claimed the M&M's South Pacific Sprint Car Championship at Western Springs.

Those drivers eligible to compete in the fully-inverted 20-lap, 20-car Kele World Challenge are:

Australia (50): David Anderson, Peter Attard, Tony Bartlett, Paul Bastow, David Brown, Stephen Bell, Barry Caldwell, Garry Brazier, Garry Chippindall, Jason Dawkins, Jeff Drew, Max Dumesny, Karl Enderl, Robert Farr, Cameron Gessner, Trevor Green, Darrell Hodges, Brent Hough, Charles Hunter, Anthony "Skip" Jackson, Lynton Jeffrey, Phil Johnson, Jeffrey Judd, Peter Knight, Steven Knight, Ian "Fly" Lewis, Troy Little, Kerry Madsen, Daryn Maggs, David Magilton, Adrian Maher, Jamie Maiolo, Philip March, Luch Monte, Tony Moule, David Murcott, Peter Murphy, Marcus Nelson, Francis Ramsdale, Mark Reuter, Andrew Scheuerle, Troy Shiells, John Shore, Mark Smith, David Swayn, Brooke Tatnell, Mike Van Bremen, John Vogels, Jeremy Warren, Darryl Wright.
