Blaney Captures Eagle Win, Points Lead

Going into the third night of the 2008 Thunder Through the Plains, Lance Dewease and Dale Blaney were dead-locked for the 2008 O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions points battle. Both of the superstars of the series started on the front of the feature setting up a classic battle for the checkered flag, $5,000, and the points lead, Dewease inside, Blaney to his right.

Dale Blaney, in the George Fisher owned/wrenched #2, would get the jump at the drop of the green flag and took command of all 30 laps which saw the field bunched 4 times due to caution flags. Additionally, Lance Dewease in the Catoctin Motorsports #30C, stayed within striking distance for all 30 circuits in second place.

The points battle in 2008 has shaped up to be a nail biter as Blaney, Dewease, and Randy Hannagan have formed one of the most competitive battles in the country. In 2007 Greg Wilson and Danny Smith took the battle down to the final race, and it looks like 2008 may end up in similar drama.

Dewease took care of the competition in the Dash event. Dewease held a consistent line to hold off Tim Shaffer in the Call Motorsports #83. Blaney would finish 3^rd with Brandon Martin in the Level Performance #11m in 4^th , Randy Hannagan in the Penthouse/PocketShot.net #1X coming home fifth and Jeremy Campbell in the Rick Ferkel's #0 machine.

Eagle Raceway points leader Mike Boston took home top honors in the first Heat Race, proving that the local talent came to play and defend their turf. Randy Hanangan took home the 2^nd affair. Chad Blonde would take the 3^rd heat event of the night. Fifteen year old Brad Greer finished first in heat race competition for the 2^nd time over the weekend.

With 38 cars taking the qualifying flag, Dale Blaney would prove to be the fastest. Blaney set quick time on the night by logging a 11.535. Blaney was unofficially clocked by radar going 113 mph down the front stretch of the super fast 1/3 mile facility.

The 2008 O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions Thunder Through the Plains tour will cap off it's 4 track swing at the famous Huset's Speedway near Brandon, South Dakota on August 3^rd . Huset's features some of the best weekly sprint car racing in the country with many top names expected to be on hand due to the lack of additional 410 racing in the area.
