PONCE INLET, FL - The All Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series will open the 2001 racing season in the usual way, with eight events in February in Florida. This will be the 18th year of action for the Al l Stars in Florida.
Action kicks off at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville (near Daytona), Thurs. Feb. 8 to Sunday Feb. 11. Each night will feature a complete show, including heat races, B Main and A main. The All Stars have been in action at Volusia since 1983.
Following the Volusia races, action moves over to the East Bay Raceway in Gibsonton near Tampa. For the 25th annual East Bay Sprint Nationals, action kicks off Wed. Feb. 14 and runs through Sat. Feb. 17. Saturday's 50-lap finale pays a cool $25,000 to win in honor of the silver anniversary of the Nationals. Events at East Bay since 1984 have been run under All Star sanction.
