ALLSTAR: Points update 2008-06-28

O'Reilly All Star Points Battle Heats Up; Dewease Holds Onto Narrow Lead

Now that Ohio Speedweek is behind us, we look ahead to the remainder of the 2008 season and the points battle that is just starting to heat up. Points leader Lance Dewease lost several points to Dale Blaney, Randy Hannagan, and Greg Wilson during Speedweek allowing his competition to reel him in. Blaney sits just 34 points behind Dewease and Hannagan and Wilson are gearing up for a strong run to the end of the season. Brian Ellenberger's consistent finishes throughout the season has him sitting in 5th place and with a little less bad luck he could easily move up the charts. Brandon Martin has made some very strong showings recently but has come up just short from time to time and this leaves him in 6th place in the standings. Rookie contender Ryan Myers sits a few points ahead of Brock Mayes who has missed a couple of points events. Lee Stark, who now leads the rookie chase, sits in 9th as Paul McMahan has dropped to 10th and is no longer driving the Ferkel owned #0. Rick Ferkel has maintained a 5th place standing in the Owner points with the help of Todd Kane and Jeremy Campbell. Campbell will bolt his seat into the #0 for the rest of the season.
