Daggett Makes His Second Tournament of Champions Start
PORTLAND, Mich -- Dustin Daggett had a very busy weekend racing with Sprints on Dirt Friday at the Brodix Tournament of Champions on Saturday and Sunday. The Tournament features the best 360 sprint car drivers from 16 different organizations from all over the country. Daggett was able to put his Dowker powered Maxim chassis in all three feature events.
Friday's SOD event at Hartford featured several drivers from ESS and URC that were on their way to the Brodix ToC. Daggett came from 12th starting spot to finish second to fellow tournament competitor Darren Long in the feature.
From Hartford the Daggett team made the long tow out to the Knoxville Raceway for Casey's night. After problems in his heat race Daggett transferred to the feature event with a second place finish in one of the B-Mains. In the feature Daggett moved up through the tough field to finish in 18th position.
Sunday was the finale of the Brodix Tournament of Champions. With 68 of the best 360 sprint cars in the world on hand, Daggett was up for the challenge. After moving up three positions in his heat race, Daggett earned enough passing points to start near the front of the B-Main. Using his patented high line Dustin charged up to second position to transfer into the Tournament feature event.
During the feature Daggett was a rocket, moving up to 12th from his 24th starting position when unusual mechanical gremlins brought his car to a stop on lap 27, just three laps from the finish. Daggett was credited with a 21st place finish.
This weekend the Daggett Racing team heads to the new Shiawassee County Fairgrounds for a special Sprints on Dirt event. By being the point leader Daggett will start last in the feature event. Then on Saturday the SOD circuit returns to the Merritt Speedway. During the last visit to Merritt Dustin and his father Mike had a thrilling heat race battle with Dustin edging out his Dad at the line for the victory.
