Selinsgrove announces June 28th format

6/16/03, Selinsgrove, Pa - Coming up on June 28, the 2nd Annual Firecracker 40 for 358-sprint cars at Selinsgrove Speedway is attracting attention with its recently announced $10,000 last-to-first challenge promotion.

Scheduled for 40-laps, the event will post a winner's share of $2,000 but if the polesitter opts to start at the rear and can return to win the event he will claim both the $2,000 and a 10G bonus for his efforts. If the polesitter declines, the option to take the challenge will be extended to the outside front row starter.

A stellar field of limiteds is expected for the event. Defending Lincoln Speedway champion Cory Haas of Dallastown is one of the confirmed invaders expecting to be on hand.

Just who gets to consider taking the challenge will be determined by a five-lap dash contested to set the feature starting grid. The dash lineup will be determined by luck of the draw as will qualifying heat lineups.

Heat winners and the top drivers in speedway points who fail to win a heat but who qualify through their heat event will transfer to the dash. The number of heat events required will determine the amount of point transfers taken to the dash however point transfers will not be heat specific, instead being across the board.

Joining the 358-sprints for the 40-lapper will be the late models, pro stocks and the roadrunners. Salem RV Center of Selinsgrove sponsors the June 28 program that includes a fantastic fireworks display. Gates open at 5 PM.
