Dana Moore, of El Cajon California finished second overall and first in her class Saturday night at Irwindale Speedway. Moore also set the fastest qualifying time with a 17.051.
The top five cars were inverted starting Moore on the inside of the third row. She quickly moved into the second position of the 30-car field. She was chasing the number 28 car driven by five-year veteran Jim Smith. Moore did an amazing job of fending off the third and fourth position cars throughout the entire race but unfortunately ran out of time to challenge for the leader position.
"It was a hard fought race. I had pressure almost the entire race but at the same time I was trying to catch Jim Smith. He could put his car anywhere on the track so it was hard to catch him." Said Moore. This was Moore's third podium finish in a row.
Dana Moore and members of her team are taking the next Irwindale race off to attend former schoolmate Jimmy Johnson's first Winston Cup race in Charlotte, NC. The next race for the Dana Moore Racing team will be at Barona Speedway on October 13. Moore won the last Barona event and will try to win again on her third challenge on a dirt track.
