St. Clair, Mich. -- Tommy Archer will return to the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course this weekend to pick up where he left off in Trans-Am in 1994. Archer will be driving the number 36 Motorcity True Performance Dodge Viper in round nine of the Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Cup this Saturday.
Archer is no stranger to the 2.4-mile, 13-turn rolling terrain road course. "I love Mid-Ohio! I think I held the track record there for three years. It is my kind of track, with its fast corners and tricky carousel. My favorite part of the track is the combination of turns through the back. The Viper will be especially good through the real fast stuff," said Archer.
"Tommy has had a lot of success at Mid-Ohio, his excitement for the track is rubbing off on the team," said Joe Tranchida, owner, Cinjo Racing. "The last three races will be very exciting. We have the car where it is very driveable and Caldwell Engineering has really done a nice job on the motors."
The last time that the Trans-Am series ran at Mid-Ohio was in 1999. The weekend will have a combined schedule including the American Le Mans Series and an SCCA National.
The Mid-Ohio race will be televised on Speedvision on Saturday, September 1 at 1:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
