SIMO ON POLE FOR MONDAY'S LIME ROCK PARK NTB TRANS-AM SERIES RACE
LAKEVILLE, Conn. – Brian Simo, of Carlsbad, Calif., posted the top time of 0:52.989 (103.946 mph) to start on the pole for Monday's 66-lap, 100.98-mile NTB Trans-Am Series race at Lime Rock Park. Simo, driving the No. 2 Valvoline Ford Mustang Cobra, recorded his first pole-qualifying effort to front the 31-car field and was the first of 11 drivers separated by less than one second.
"This is great – it's my first pole and I'm really excited to get to the race," said Simo. "Throughout qualifying it seemed like everyone was able to get in a fast lap early then the times just fell off. Fortunately I got in my quick time early and it held for the session."
Qualifying second to start on the outside pole was John Miller IV, in the No. 64 PLC Direct Chevrolet Camaro. Miller IV, of Johnson City, Tenn., scored his career-best qualifying effort in earning his third-straight Fast Five Qualifying position. Qualifying third was Paul Gentilozzi, winner of the season's first two races, followed by Michael Lewis and Chris Neville.
Monday's NTB Trans-Am race begins at 12:00 p.m. (EDT) and will be televised live on The Nashville Network (TNN).
