Joey Scarallo 11th in Second-Round Practice at Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 16, 2004) -- Joey Scarallo was 11th quickest during second-round practice Friday afternoon for Sunday's Motorock Trans-Am Series race, part of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach in California. Driving the No. 6 Toyo Tires/ROH Wheels/Group A/Autotrend Chevrolet Corvette, Scarallo recorded at 1:25.041-minute lap at 83.310 miles per hour early in the 30-minute session.
"A brake duct came off, which allowed air into the car, making it less competitive in practice," said Scarallo. "We plan to make a spring change on the car, replace the brake pads and rotors and install a fresh set of tires for tomorrow's qualifying. Then we can rock and roll.
"We ran about 12 to 14 laps, but were not out there long enough to make quality laps," added Scarallo. "The session went by really, really quickly."
The oldest of four siblings, Scarallo, 25, lives in Smithtown, N.Y. Scarallo manages Autotrend Tire and Wheel Company Inc., his family's wheel importing business in Lindenhurst, N.Y.
Scarallo will run in group two during Trans-Am qualifying tomorrow at 9 a.m. PDT. For more information on Joey Scarallo, please contact Susan Clark at (704) 287-3266.
