All Hayner, all the time! Stu Hayner takes the poll for VIR Speedfest Presented by Justin Bell GT Motorsports Experience.
Alton, Va. - October 26, 2002 - With weather conditions improved, Stu Hayner in the #02 Trenton Forging Corvette took the pole with yet another last lap flyer in this morning's Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Cup qualifying.
This is the fourth time Hayner has been top qualifier and his third official pole for 2002. In addition Hayner, who has three podium appearances, nine top-ten finishes, and eight top-five finishes. Hayner is anxious for that first 2002 win.
"After the black flag there were only about three minutes of track time remaining," said Hayner. "We knew we only had enough time to get one lap in. My crew chief [Shane Duhaime] came over the radio and screaming to let it fly--. I guess we did."
Currently sitting fifth in the points, Hayner has picked up two championship points for his efforts. Entering the weekend Hayner needed seven points to move into fourth place ahead of Johnny Miller in the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup Driver's Championship.
The VIR SpeedFest presented by Justin Bell GT Motorsports Experience is slated to take the green flag at 1pm on Sunday with Stu Hayner and Boris Said sitting on the front row. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED. In association with Trenton Forging, Revolution Motorsports competes as part of the Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup. All events are nationally televised on CBS and SPEED channel (formerly Speedvision). The Trans-Am Series is the oldest form of American sports car racing.
