Earl's Fast Qualifier update 2003-07-28

Yeley reaches 200-point plateau! Hunt new WSP leader

J.J. Yeley has reached the 200-point mark in his quest for 2003 Earl's Plumbing Fast Qualifier Championships. He leads three of the five series point rankings and trails Jay Drake by a single point in the National Sprint Car qualifying points.

Yeley posted the fastest qualifying time for USAC Sprint Car races at Lawrenceburg and Bloomington, Ind., while Boston Reid and Tracy Hines earned fast time honors at Kokomo and Terre Haute respectively.

In Western Sprint Car racing, Michael Lewis was the fastest qualifier at Twin Falls, Idaho and Tony Hunt was the fast qualifier at Salt Lake City, Utah. Hunt now leads the Western Sprint Car Earl's standings.

Earl's Plumbing Fast Qualifier points are again available this week in Thursday's Weld Racing Silver crown race at Indianapolis Raceway Park, as well as in Wednesday and Saturday's National Midget races at Anderson, Ind. and Mansfield, Ohio and Saturday's Sprint Car race at Mansfield.

This year, each USAC National and Western Series qualifying champion will receive a $5,000 bonus from Earl's in recognition of their accomplishment. Points are earned at each USAC event based on an international system awarding the top-six qualifiers with points in the following scale: 1st-9. 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-3, 5th-2, 6th-1.
