MCI WORLDCOM MIDGET CARS, TQs SHARE IRWINDALE SPOTLIGHT
Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway plays host to Saturday night's MCI WorldCom USAC Midget Car/TQ Midget Car "doubleheader" and series point leaders Marc DeBeaumont and Randi Pankratz are anxious to extend their respective leads. DeBeaumont, of Clayton, Calif., has won twice this season, at Irwindale on April 17 and at Stockton, Calif. on May 15. Pankratz, bidding to become USAC's first female driving champion, has yet to taste victory despite "top-five" finishes in all six of her 1999 starts! Irwindale has produced three different feature winners in three 1999 races, so Saturday might be Randi's night. A 20-lap TQ Midget Car and 30-lap Western Midget Car feature cap the complete program of MCI WorldCom racing on Irwindale's two ovals. The TQs will race on the 1/3-mile and the Midget Cars will take to the 1/2-mile.
