Jessup Returns to Dirt at Memphis
Marc Jessup returned to kicking up dirt on the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series during the Big "M" Motorfest at the Memphis Motorsports Park. It was Jessup's first start on a dirt surface during the 2004.
Jessup debuted his new F5 chassis, assembled with the help of Bill Davis, qualified 14th fastest, finished fourth in his heat race, and finished 21st in the main event. Jessup was enthusiastic about the handling of his new dirt car.
"This is the best dirt sprint car I have ever driven," said Jessup from his shop after the Memphis event. "We still have things to figure out, but the car was very stable."
Jessup will have his dirt sprint car in action again May 22nd at the Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Indiana for the Tony Hulman Classic featuring the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series. Jessup scored a 16th in his last start at Terre Haute in the fall of 2003, and hopes to improve on that finish during his first Terre Haute start of 2004.
