McLeod Starts USAC Regional Midget Season with Fourth at Anderson
Anderson, Ind. -- (May 9, 2009) Alison McLeod started off the 2009 USAC Regional Midget Car Series season with a solid fourth-place run in the No. 6 Ford Racing/Beast Enterprises Beast Friday night at the quarter-mile Anderson Speedway.
McLeod worked her way through traffic to fight her way into the top five in the 30-lap feature after qualifying tenth.
"Anderson is a tight little bullring and you never know what's going to happen," McLeod said. "We only have 30 laps to get it done and at a place this small and this fast that's not a lot of time. Everyone wants to win and get in the top five so that makes for some pretty intense racing when there isn't a lot of room out there. We went to the front as quickly as we could because you have no time at all to sit and wait for the race to come to you."
With one race in the history books, McLeod sits fourth in the USAC Regional Midget standings, 14 points behind leader Caleb Armstrong and 10 points behind third place Zach Daum.
The next USAC Regional Midget Series event is scheduled for Thursday May 21 at the third-mile Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind.
