WESTERN MIDGETS AT KINGS SPEEDWAY SATURDAY; KODY SWANSON WINS MADERA'S "VUVOVICH CLASSIC"
Garrett Hansen leads the USAC Western Midgets to Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. this Saturday holding a comfortable point lead over Kody Swanson, winner of last Saturday's race at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway.
Swanson, of Kingsburg, Calif., took the lead from Jerome Rodela on lap 24 at Madera in his DMS Motorsports Beast/Esslinger Ford and led the final seven laps to beat Rodela, Tanner Swanson, Alex Bowman and Levi Roberts in the 32nd "Vukovich Classic," co-sanctioned by BCRA. Swanson, who was Saturday's fastest qualifier, had also won the recent 100-lap "Gerhardt Classic" at Madera.
Hansen will be seeking his first Hanford victory Saturday in the 37th USAC Midget race at the track since 1986.
One driver to watch Saturday will be Shannon McQueen of Bakersfield, Calif. She finished third at Hanford last year behind Nic Faas and Bobby Boone.
