FORD THE MAN TO BEAT AT VENTURA SATURDAY?
Josh Ford of Camarillo, Calif. appears the be the driver to beat Saturday when the USAC Western Midgets convene at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. Although he's 10th in series standings, Ford has won two of the three races at Ventura this year and was third in the other outing.
Robby Josett, third in the current standings, won the other Ventura race and would like to improve his point ranking in the season's final events,
All drivers are chasing Nic Faas, though, as Faas has a commanding lead in the points, with seven "podium" finishes so far, including wins at Santa Maria, Hanford and Bakersfield, Calif. Nic's worst finish in the last nine starts has been an eighth!
Scott Pierovich, who ranks second in the latest standings, has had a second and third at Ventura among his six "podium" finishes this season.
