Le Mans 24 hours - Driver Line Up

Matech Competition have completed their driver line up for the Le Mans 24 hours following a successful test with Rahel Frey at Paul Ricard on 7-8 March.

The 24 year old driver from Niederbipp in Switzerland joins Natacha Gachnang and Cyndie Allemann, creating a 100% female and 100% Swiss team. Rahel joins Matech Competition from Formula 3 having starting racing in 1998.

Rahel Frey had this to say after confirming the drive with Matech and the Ford GT1 car, "It's a great atmosphere in the team, and an honour to be in a Swiss team representing the colours of your country. Every racing driver dreams to race at Le Mans, and I am really excited to do this with an all girl team."

Martin Bartek, Team Principal and Owner of Matech Competition commented, "I am delighted to confirm that Rahel will join the team and complete my aim to have an all female Swiss line up for Le Mans. The girls already know each other very well, having grown up racing together in Formula cars. Its good to see them pushing each other already to get the best performance from themselves and the car."

The season for Matech Competition start on April 17 at Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi with round 1 of the FIA GT1 World Championship. Matech will also race their 2 Ford GT1 cars at the Spa 1000kms on 9 May in advance of the 24 hours of Le Mans on June 12-13.
