1995 24 HOURS OF LE MANS June 17-18, Le Mans, France
NOTES: 8 HOURS COMPLETE
By Robert Heathcote, for SpeedNet
Mario Andretti went off the road and damaged some body work on the #13 Courage-Porsche sometime after the fourth hour. The car lost six laps and dropped to 25th. After 8 hours, the car had moved up to eighth, but was still 6 laps behind the leader.
It has been raining since the first hour, following a dry start.
With 8 hours in the books, the McLaren F1 GTR-BMW machines led the way, with the #49 car of Nielsen, Bscher and Mass one lap ahead of the #51 and #59 cars. Fourth was the #57 Jaguar XJ220 followed by yet another McLaren, both five laps down. The American Corvette ZR-1 entry failed to complete more than 4 laps...
One entry was ommited from the previous list (besides the 21st and 48th qualifiers, who are absent still on the chart above):
Ps.Cl.No.Driver; Entrant; Chassis-Engine (size, T=Turbo)
32 G1 26 Alain Ferte (F), Kenny Acheson (IRL), Tomiko Yoshikawa (J); Sard Co. Ltd; Sard MC8R-Sard 4.0l-T
Wish I had more to add, but that's all I know at this time.
-Robert
