24 Heures du Mans -- Qualifying Session Two

The second and final qualifying session for this year's 24 Heures du Mans took place in Le Mans, France this evening with the RML MG Lola EX264 securing an 8th row grid position.

During Thursday the team fitted its race engine and transmission as part of its final preparations for the 24 hours. Having completed their mandatory night laps on Wednesday evening all that remained for this second qualifying session was to complete a systems check and post a dry weather time to claim their spot on the starting grid.

All three team drivers, Tommy Erdos, Mike Newton and Warren Hughes drove this evening and enthused about the cars performance in the dry weather, Tommy finally posted a qualifying time of 3:46:205, securing the team 3rd place in the LMP2 class.

Tommy's second and last flying lap of this year's Le Mans qualifying was clearly quicker with the team telemetry showing him two seconds faster than his previous best before he encountered traffic towards the end of the lap.

With no track activity taking place on Friday the team will now carry out a final thorough check of the race car components and spare parts. The drivers will take part in a number of PR activities including the official Grand Parade des Pilotes through Le Mans town centre during the evening.

The 73rd 24 Heures du Mans commences at 4:00pm CET on Saturday 18th June. European viewers can watch live coverage of the race throughout the weekend on Eurosport.
