World of Outlaws Help To Celebrate Tradition In Brandon, S.D.

Brandon, SD -- May 7, 2006 -- It's an annual tradition in Brandon, S.D., to honor the country with the American Festival.

Before taking to the track Sunday night at Huset's Speedway several members of the World of Outlaws Sprint Series traveling team helped to mark this celebration by taking to the streets for the traditional Loyalty Day parade through the beautiful downtown.

The parade capped off four days of activities that included a barn dance, bingo, a motorcycle blessing and a flag retirement ceremony among other events.

The World of Outlaws merchandise hauler driven by Mark Wallace and Tammy Rose stood above every other entry in the parade because of its height and was one of the highlights for the hundreds of fans that lined the parade route before making the trek to the famed racetrack. Kids along the route tried to entice Mark and Tammy to blow the powerful horn as the young Outlaws fans tried to catch candy being tossed to them from the truck.

In addition, fans young and old cheered for the famous Work'n Woody safety and push vehicle piloted by Art and Carol Malies as it rolled along the parade route. For once, rather than trying to push off a sprint car or help pull one back to the work area, Work'n Woody had a chance to drive at a leisurely pace with the Malies waving to all the on-lookers.

The festivities wrapped up Sunday evening at Huset's Speedway with opening night activities finally getting started a week after the World of Outlaws event was postponed by rain.
