GOODYEAR DOMINATES OUTLAWS WEEKEND AT BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY
World of Outlaws: Donnie Schatz and Sammy Swindell gave Goodyear consecutive victories in The Channel Lock Challenge at Bristol Motor Speedway during a weekend in which speed was the name of the game. Some reports had the WoO cars clocked at 168 mph at the end of Bristol's straightaways.
All told, Goodyear racers occupied five of the first eight finishing positions in the first main event and six of the top nine in the next night.
Schatz, who won the weekend's first main event, started on the fifth row in that race and surged to the front. Jeff Shepard finished second, Swindell was third, Tim Shaffer was sixth and Daryn Pittman finished eighth, all on Goodyear tires.
"We've won some races this year with their stuff and they were awesome again tonight," Schatz said of his tires.
The next night, Swindell and Shepard made the main event their own private race, exchanging the lead five times before Swindell got in front for the final time, five laps before the end.
Team Goodyear grabbed four more of the top nine spots as Shaffer finished third, Schatz took fifth, Stevie Smith was eighth and Dale Blaney was ninth.
