Cleveland Brothers Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Postponed Until Wednesday
The Cleveland Brothers Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway for the World of Outlaws was postponed due to rain on Tuesday night. The $30,000-to win event will be held on Wednesday, July 18.
With a strong field of 51 cars signed into the pit area, hot laps were completed and time trials began. Halfway through the first round of time trials a steady mist became a persistent rain and ultimately a downpour that left the racing surface and pit area drenched.
After an extensive delay and subsequent work by the track crew to work the racing surface back in, the cars took the high-banked 0.4-mile oval again for hot laps. By World of Outlaws rules, time trials completely began again due to not every car taking time in the first go-around. Each competitor received one lap in time trials and just past the halfway mark, Mother Nature interrupted yet again with rain and ended the night.
The Cleveland Brothers Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup is the sixth race of the "SuperClean Summer of Money" on ESPN2 for the World of Outlaws. The event is scheduled to air on Sunday, July 22 at Noon Eastern, 11 a.m. Central on ESPN2.
On Wednesday, July 18 at Lernerville Speedway, gates will open at 5 p.m., with racing set for 7:30 p.m.
