Gillette, WY-- August 14, 2008--The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series debut at Gillette Thunder Speedway in Gillette, Wyoming on Thursday night was interrupted by rain on the first lap of the scheduled 35-lap A-Feature event.
After a rain delay prior to hot laps, Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series officials pushed the program along at a brisk pace trying to beat the impending rain.
The night began with Daryn Pittman setting a new track record in time trials, circling the high-banked 1/3-mile in 11.524 seconds at 104.026 miles per hour.
Kraig Kinser, Paul McMahan and Steve Kinser all won heats races, while McMahan was victorious in the Crane Cams Dash to earn the pole position for the 35-lap A-Feature.
World of Outlaws officials along with Gillette Speedway officials are currently discussing options to complete the A-Feature, which was halted on the first lap for an accident and then rain.
The Advance Auto Part World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action on Saturday, August 16 with their inaugural event at Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, North Dakota.
