CHEVROLET AND ALAIN MENU FASTEST IN FIRST TESTING SESSION

Resurfaced Street Course Expected To Be Faster In Tomorrow's Qualifying

Chevrolet Lacetti driver Alain Menu was fastest in this afternoon's first testing session for the final round of the 2007 World Touring Car Championship in Macau, China. Initially scheduled for yesterday, the testing session was delayed by a day after overseas logistical troubles meant that some teams had not yet received all their equipment. As such, qualifying is also postponed until tomorrow, Saturday.

Conditions on the narrow street course the longest in the world were as difficult as they have always been, a slight mistake costing Nicola Larini part of the session.

QUOTES

Alain Menu (1st): "Today was about getting used to the track again after a year away. This track is the most difficult one in the world and they have resurfaced it as well since last year. The car felt good overall, except maybe for some understeer when exiting some corners. But tomorrow is a different day and we just have to stay focused on getting the best out of the car in qualifying."

Rob Huff (10th): "Not bad, but not great. The car felt good and quick, with only some smaller things to change for tomorrow. On my fastest lap I got held up by a yellow flag in the first sector and by another competitor later on, so there's definitely room for improvement. But all in all it was a good start to the weekend."

Nicola Larini (11th): "It went quite nicely, since I set my fastest lap on old tyres, unlike some others who put on new tyres, so I wasn't racing in quite the same conditions. I could still have improved my time on the old tyres but unfortunately I made a stupid mistake at the Melco hairpin and clipped the guardrail. That damaged the right-hand side of the body but also the suspension, so I had to return to the pits and call it a day."
