FARFUS AND BMW KEEP THE TITLE FIGHT OPEN
In adverse weather conditions - with heavy rain soaking the racetrack - BMW drivers performed a miracle and scored two 1-2 finishes at Okayama in the penutilmate event of the season.
Andy Priaulx claimed victory in Race 1, from Jorg Muller, while Augusto Farfus won the second race ahead of Priaulx.
Aquaplaning was a kind of Damocles' sword, hung above the drivers' head for the whole day. And many made mistakes, including championship leader Gabriele Tarquini (who went wide twice at the start of both races) and Farfus (who salvaged his hopes to be champion with a recovery to eight in Race 1).
The fights for both the world titles are wide open at the eve of the final race meeting. Tarquini's lead has been cut to 2 points ahead of his team-mate Yvan Muller, while Farfus is only 13 points behind. In the Manufacturers' Championship SEAT and BMW are split by 3 points.
The championship will come to an end at Macau on November 22nd, for rounds 23 and 24.
