Fans Can Choose American Le Mans Series Most Popular Driver Award
Fans of the American Le Mans Series now have the opportunity to choose the recipient of one of the series' most prestigious awards through a voting process.
The recipient of the annual "Most Popular Driver" award will be selected by a voting process that has begun at www.americanlemans.com, the official website of the American Le Mans Series. Voting will be open until the completion of the season-ending race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., on Oct. 16.
The name of the award recipient will remain secret until being revealed at the American Le Mans Series awards banquet in Monterey on Oct. 17.
The "Most Popular Driver" award is open to any driver regularly competing in the American Le Mans Series in the 2004 season, regardless of the class the driver races in. The award was inaugurated in 2003 and was won by Jan Magnussen.
Fans will also have the opportunity later this month to vote for the recipient of the coveted "From the Fans" award, presented to the person or group felt by the fans to have made the greatest contribution to sports car racing in the past year.
The next race for the American Le Mans Series will be the Road America 500 in Elkhart Lake, Wis., Aug. 20-22.
