CRS Racing preview
Sebring 12 Hours
GREEN LIGHT FOR ILMC SEASON
The 2011 sportscar racing season roars into life this weekend with round one of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup at Sebring in Florida. The 59th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring is a tough event to start with; the circuit is hard on the cars and the drivers need to be fully committed to master America’s oldest sportscar race.
The No.62 CRS Ferrari 430 will be raced in 2011 by Pierre Ehret, Shaun Lynn and Roger Wills. As Wills explains, it’s going to be hard work, but he and his team-mates are more than ready for the challenge.
“This is the start of an incredible seven-event adventure in the ILMC,” said Wills. “It’s something that I have dreamt about for a long time so I’m very excited but also a little nervous. I’ve been working hard on fitness so I hope I will cope well, despite the heat.”
He has spent time preparing for the event, using every bit of modern technology available, and will soon find out if his work has paid off when he takes to the track.
“I've never raced at Sebring,” he said. “Although I have spent some time in the simulator and have some good in-car footage from Pierre's test in February on my iPad so that will help. The traffic worries me a little as there is such a speed differential between the GT cars and the prototypes and this will take some getting used to. But overall, I feel well prepared and raring to go!”
The ILMC cars will go out on track for the first time today. Once all the practice is complete there is a 15-minute qualifying session on Friday before the 12-hour race gets underway on Saturday at 1030hrs local time.
